Get In-Get Out

Disclaimer: “Rock-Bland” posts are highly opinionated “rants about non-rocking stuff that sucks” according to this author. Fair warning. You are encouraged to comment and share liberally below.

You know what blows? Long ass blog posts that belabor the point…

It reminds me of those old Heinz ketchup commercials from the 70′s… cue Carly Simon song here: “Anticipation is making me wait…”

Don’t make me wait. Get to the freaking point.

I’ve been guilty of this myself in the past, but I’ve learned.

So, to all the writers of short, informative, and useful blog posts… thank you very much!

Thanks for not boring the piss out of me with all of the mind-numbing minutia detailing your daily life.

Thank you for giving me something of substance to think about and learn from.

Like you, I’m busy. I appreciate your awareness of that.

For reference: the average pop song is about 3½-4 minutes long.

Most good blog posts should take about half that time to read/skim, start-to-finish.

Occasionally a longer, more elaborate post is necessary, but this is the exception not the rule.

Things must keep moving or folks are gonna bolt.

Get ‘em in and get ‘em out quick!

Your audience will appreciate you more.

You’ll then get ‘em back more frequently IF you give ‘em more of the same.

Give them value, make it easy, and make it quick.

This is great communication; this is smart psychology; and this is good marketing.

There, I’m done. In a little over a minute… You’re welcome.

Thanks for reading. Check back soon… or not.

Stay tuned-in…
